This page explains how the OJA Editorial Team researches, checks, and corrects our hiring guides. Job seekers make real decisions with this information, so we hold every guide to these rules.
Our sources
We use the most direct source available for every fact, in this order:
- First-party sources: the employer’s official careers site, its current job postings, its press releases, and its public filings such as annual reports.
- Public data: government sources such as the US Bureau of Labor Statistics for pay by occupation and region.
- Established third-party sources, used only for context and always named: for example, review sites with enough reviews to be meaningful.
When two sources disagree, we use the employer’s own official source or the most recent government data. We do not use forums, rumors, or unnamed sources for facts.
How we handle pay figures
Hourly pay varies by location, role, and whether a store is run by the company or by a franchise owner. We show pay as a range. As we review each guide, we name where each figure comes from and when we checked it; until a guide has been reviewed, treat its pay figures as estimates. If an employer does not publish pay, we say so and use public occupation data instead, labeled as an estimate. A pay figure on OJA tells you what to expect. The employer’s job posting is the final word.
How we handle apply links
Every guide links to the employer’s official careers site or application page. We check that the link opens the employer’s real application, not a third-party job board posing as the employer. If a link breaks or an employer changes its hiring site, we update the guide.
Reviews and updates
The OJA Editorial Team reviews guides in weekly batches, starting with the pages people visit most. A review checks the guide’s facts and links against current public sources.
Corrections
If something in a guide is wrong or out of date, tell us: use the form on our Contact page, choose the topic “Correction”, and include the page link and what needs fixing.
- We aim to review correction requests within 5 business days.
- If we confirm an error, we fix the guide.
- If a correction changes a key fact, such as pay, age requirements, or how to apply, we add a short note at the end of the guide saying what changed and when.
How we use AI
OJA guides are drafted with the help of AI writing tools. The OJA Editorial Team reviews every guide before it is published: we check facts against the sources above, verify the apply link, and edit for accuracy and clarity. AI tools do not publish anything on their own, and an AI tool is never the source for a fact. If AI-assisted text contains an error, the responsibility is ours, and we correct it under the process above.
Advertising and editorial independence
OJA earns money from display ads served by Google AdSense, and some guides include job listings from Jooble, a third-party job board. Jooble does not pay us, and we do not write the listings.
- Advertisers have no say in what we write.
- No employer pays to appear on OJA or to receive favorable coverage.
- Ads are served by Google and are not written or chosen by us.
- Jooble listings are labeled as coming from Jooble.
- If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled as sponsored at the top of the page.
Independence from employers
OJA is not affiliated with any employer we cover. We do not take applications, and we cannot contact employers on your behalf. Company names and logos are used only to identify the employer a guide is about.
